Saturday 27 February – Mens 1s

Posted on 01/03/2016

Another Saturday, another Gamblers Men’s 1s game. Having had to select a team minus first team keeper Kramer, the fearless leader Hill called upon a Goat to cover in goal. 9am on Saturday morning comes and the Goat is having an issue with… Insurance? Said Goat doesn’t turn up. Come the hour, come the Good Cunt. Nick “Good C” Dravitzki steps up to cover in goal and the Gamblers get the game going. A strong start from the lads and a high press leads to a couple of shorts. Another master planned short from the fearless leader leads to Banksy having reversie Percy and the gamblers take the lead. Continued good play leads to another short. The fearless leader Hill, back from scoring a double century for England cricket team and then winning the recent ski downhill comp in Meribel at speeds scientists thought weren’t possible, did what can only be described as a reverse drag flick and it was 2-0.

As the half bears an end Shedlake breaks through and is fouled in the D. A terrible tackle gives Gamblers a P Flick. The fearless leader immediately steps up. With incredible power and pace the flick flew through the air and clipped the post. Incredibly unlucky for the leader. His first ever missed flick.

Half time comes and goes and continued fine play continues. Yet another short results in a neat slip left move and Doug fires the ball cross goal for Monisuer Yelland to deflect in. 3-0. Gamblers continued fantastic hockey and dominant play resulted in Shedlake scoring what can only be described as a wonder goal. Beating 2 players at the top of the D he fired the shot, clipping off the post and going in. 4-0.

Last, but certainly not least was the fifth. Exceptional build up play from the Gamblers that the likes of Barca and Arsenal would have been proud. Neat build play from left back resulted in a ball into the D to sammy Yelland to square for a tap in for Shedlake. 5-0.
Reigate scored a lucky break away goal before the end to finish it 5-1. The lads continued March to promotion continues. Bring on Trinity.

In summary…
Man of the Match: Nick “Good C” Dravitzki
Dick of the Day: Rob “Fearless Leader” Hill
